Carolyn started in Los Angeles, moved to Berkeley, New Orleans, Stockholm, back to Berkeley – and finally all the way home to a hidden cottage near the redwoods in Oakland, California.

As a girl, her favorite Bible verse was Luke 2:19. “And Mary took all these things and pondered them in her heart.” “All these things” are the big questions: why we are the way we are. Stories unlock the pondering.

Carolyn collects, treasures, writes, and tells stories for children and adults in books and performances. She loves hanging out with kids and friends, snuggling in her rose-colored recliner, harvesting persimmons from her garden tree, ambling the woods, doing improv, and crooning an old folk song or drinking in a mournful violin.
