Middle grade work-in-progress

It’s 1967 and Anna Everest is suddenly at a new public junior high instead of her old Baptist Christian Elementary. Her new friends, just by being themselves, are challenging the religious certainties Anna’s mother insists on. There seem to be so many secrets: secrets about the United States and the Vietnam war; secrets about her grandmother and her mother; a secret about the boy she likes; and Anna’s own secret about her past behavior. Even the shopping center and the Zit Doctor seem to have something to hide. Can Anna start telling the truth and stand up for herself?
